Congratulations to Ben Torre

Congratulations to Ben Torre, a graduating Marine Technology student at Lanier Technical College’s Marine Technology Program at the Gainesville Campus. Ben placed first at the SkillsGeorgia competition on March 19, 2021, and qualified for the Skills National competition in June.

We are proud to inform you that after an extremely challenging pandemic school year, our Marine Engine Technology student, Ben Torre, has just won Gold in the National Skills USA competition, after having won the State Championship a little over a month ago.

We are working closely to create a formalized partnership with Yamaha, and Mercury is working towards this goal as well.

NMEA is still pending.

At the end of this semester on July 28th we will have 6 more students graduating. With 5 of those students already employed in the marine industry. This was a special group of students that made friends for life and will surely be missed. Please help me cheer for these students' continued sucess in their careers.

While Fall semester student registration is continuing, we are excited to tell you that 10 new students have already have signed up with 1 out of Tennessee, and enrollment is currently on-going so if you know of any possible students, please share my contact info with them.

We would like to issue a special THANKS!! to Yamaha who supported and made the Skills USA competition such a wonderful experience for our students!

And, thanks to all of our advisory board members for your continued support of the Lanier Tech Marine Engine Technology Program.

Best regards,
Hans C. Metz
Program Director & Instructor of Marine Engine Technology
